All research articles should have a funding acknowledgment statement. If the journal is single anonymized, meaning author information is shown to the reviewers, include the funding acknowledgment statement in the manuscript in the form of a sentence under a separate heading entitled ‘Funding’ directly after your Acknowledgements and Declaration of Conflicting Interests; if applicable, and before any Notes and your References. If the journal is double or triple anonymized, meaning author information is not shown to the reviewers or editors, include the funding acknowledgment statement in the title page.
The funding agency should be written out in full, followed by the grant number in square brackets; see the following example (the text in bold is mandatory unless specified otherwise by the journal). Here is an example:
The author(s) disclosed receipt of the following financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article: This work was supported by the Medical Research Council [grant number xxx].
Sage encourages all authors to supply a disclosure, even if there isn't anything to disclose. For best practice, we recommend stating the following:
The author(s) received no financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.
