Each institution can enable a mix of the methods below to suit their individual needs, including EZproxy, OpenAthens or Shibboleth, Referral URLs, and Username and Password access. However, for federated access through single sign-on (SSO) services, such as Open Athens or Shibboleth, we can only enable one of this access type per account
If we are setting up any off-campus methods which allows for multiple methods to be set up, any new off-campus access method that we set up will not interfere with access methods set up previously, and there are no extra costs involved.
Please note that for all off-campus methods we offer, all users (e.g. students, faculty, or your institution's employees) will be entitled to all your holdings. Singling out individual products is not possible. Further, all usage will be counted towards your normal COUNTER usage statistics. Unfortunately, we cannot provide usage per access method.
In addition to IP authentication on campus, Sage Journals supports the following access methods off campus:
Account administrators can log in to Secure Center to enable OpenAthens or Shibboleth access. Full instructions can be found here:
For any assistance adding OpenAthens or Shibboleth details to your Secure Center account, please contact onlinesupport@sagepub.co.uk with the following details:
Please e-mail your dedicated proxy IP(s) to Global IP Updates at IPUpdates@sagepub.com, and we will add your proxy IP(s) to your account. Please note that you will need to include in your configuration the latest EZproxy stanza for Sage Publications, which is available on the OCLC EZproxy support website.
Referral URLs (HTTPs only)
This method is as follows:
