Authors must submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts supported by NIH funds to the digital archive PubMed Central (PMC) upon acceptance for publication. The policy requires that these papers are made available on PMC no later than 12 months after publication.
What version should I deposit?
Authors should visit the NIH/PubMed deposit website to deposit the 'accepted version' of the manuscript. The accepted manuscript is the version updated to include the author’s revisions after peer review, prior to any typesetting for the journal. this is often the version accepted by the editor. Please see Green Open Access: Sage’s Archiving and Sharing Policy for further information.
How do I deposit NIH-funded research to PubMed Central (PMC)?
Below you will find step-by-step instructions for completing this process. If you have any problems uploading your manuscript or questions regarding NIH policies, please contact the NIH customer service and tech department at info@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.
