What authentication process does Sage Catalyst use?

Modified on Mon, 25 Nov at 10:50 AM

Sage Catalyst has personalisation features that allow individual students to interact with resources and download parts of textbooks. We therefore use a more fully featured authentication method than may be traditional for a ‘textbook’ supplier.

Sage Catalyst only supports SAML authentication with your university identity provider SAML supporting systems are:

  • Shibboleth
  • Open Athens LA
  • Open Athens MD
  • Ping Federate
  • Microsoft ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services)
  • Microsoft Azure Active Directory
  • CAS (Apereo)

If your identity provider is available via EduGAIN, there is a good chance we can work with your Authentication System. If it is not, we will need to exchange some metadata with you.

Does Sage Catalyst support other authentication methods?

The only authentication method available for Catalyst is SAML, as this is the most widely supported authentication mechanism in the education sector.
