As per COPE guidelines, reviewers should not suggest that authors include citations of the reviewer’s work merely to increase their citation count or to enhance the visibility of their work. Citation suggestions must be based on valid academic or technological reasons. We retain the right to remove self-citations suggested by reviewers before sending comments to the author(s).
