What is the Catalyst new editions solution?

Modified on Fri, 22 Nov at 6:13 PM

From June 2023, a new edition alert banner will appear on the title information pages of any book, with a new edition available in Catalyst. This is to help you locate the newest edition and teach with the most up-to-date resources.

Faculty using a title within the teaching and learning tool, powered by Talis Elevate (i.e., have added chapters to their Elevate module), will also get an email alert letting them know that a new edition of this title is available and how long the existing edition will remain in Sage Catalyst.

What does this look like?

How does this effect my textbook?

  • If you are using a Textbook with no new edition, then no alert banner will appear, and you are using the most up to date version.
  • We retain two different editions of a textbook alongside each other for a period of 12 months, to allow you enough time to transition to the latest edition in your teaching. If you are using a title which has a new available in Catalyst, the old edition will be retained (both in your library’s catalogue and in your institutions unique discovery layer) for 12 months from date of new edition being added. We add new editions to the Catalyst collection in June and January of each year, based on publication dates.
  • If you are using the Talis Elevate teaching and learning functionality and have elevated a chapter from an older edition by adding it into your module(s), you are able to retain this chapter. The elevated chapter will not be deleted even when the old edition is removed from the Catalyst collection; it will stay as part of the module. However, once the old edition is removed from the collection it will not be available to add to any future modules.
