Can I change agency in Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment? (Chinese authors only)

Modified on Mon, 9 Dec at 8:54 AM

Sage does not directly charge authors who are located in China and instead collect all the payments via agents. This change has been implemented as per direction from the Chinese government to ensure compliance with local sales tax requirements for Article Processing Charges (APCs). Sage has moved swiftly to cooperate with this request, and ensure that payments are now collected through an Agent who is registered in China.

Sage works with two agents to collect these payments, Socopay (CEPIEC) and Publink.

If you wish to change which agent you make payment through, and you have not already completed payment, then you are able to change agent. If you wish to do so, please follow the below instructions:

  • Email openacess@sagepub.com and include the following information:
    • Article ID/Manuscript ID
    • Article title
    • Journal title
  • After we receive your request, the Open Access Customer Services team will rollback your article in the Open Access Portal to the stage at which an agency is selected.
  • You will then be asked to complete this step again, selecting the desired agent.
  • You will then be taken to the agent site to complete payment.

Please be aware that if payment has already been processed, we are unable to change the agent.
