Why I am facing issues when accessing Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment?

Users may face issues when accessing Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment, please use the following guide to troubleshoot these issues:


Internet browser 

  • Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment functions best in Google Chrome, please use this browser to access the portal. 
  • If you encounters issues with the portal, we recommended that you first check your internet connection and clear your cookies. 
  • If you are still unable to access the portal, please try logging in through the homepage at licensing-payment.sagepub.com, rather than clicking the link in the email.

Register/Log-in

  • To learn more about how to access Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment, please see How do I access Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment?
  • If you have forgotten your Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment password, please click on "Forgot Password." An email will be sent to you with instructions to reset your password.
  • Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment can 'lock' accounts due to inactivity or an incorrect password is entered more than ten times. If you have entered your password more than 10 times, please contact the Open Access Customer Services team at openaccess@sagepub.com 
  • Once the author nominates a bill payer in Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment, the system automatically sends an email to the bill payer.
  • Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment allows 5 days for the bill payer to respond to this invitation request. The email will include a link to the portal which allows the bill payer to accept the invitation and complete payment.
  • However, if the bill payer fails to respond to the invitation within 5 days, the link will expire and they will no longer be able to access the portal via this link.
  • The invitation email will include the date that the offer expires. Please check the date in your email to see if the link is still active.
  • If this has expired, please contact the Open Access Customer Services team at openaccess@sagepub.com to reactivate the link.
  • In Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment, Sage Choice/Hybrid article offers expire if authors don’t take action within 14 days. After receiving the offer email, authors have a 14-day window to complete each step, which includes selecting a license, nominating a bill payer, and raising an invoice. 
  • If authors don’t use the link in the invitation email from Sage Journals: Licensing & Payment to log in, the offer will expire, and the link in the email will no longer be valid.  
  • If this has expired, please contact the Open Access Customer Services team at openaccess@sagepub.com to reactivate the link.
  • Please note, if an offers times out, we cannot guarantee that re-opening the offer will have the same APC as the original offer.
